♦ The design and synthesize new nanoscale materials and structures with an emphasis on rational control of morphology, size, structure, composition and doping of metal carbides and nitrides on multiple scales for electrocatalytic applications.
♦ Nano structured composite materials for photoelectrochemical applications.
♦ Metal-Air Batteries and hybrid energy storage devices.
♦ Active catalysts for Oxygen Reduction Reaction for Nonaqueous Li-Air Batteries
♦ Development of low cost, stable and efficient electrocatalyst for development of PEMFC; MOF based polymer electrolyte

Conferences/workshops organizing/organized :

 Convener of the Indo-Australian conference 2015: Recently Dr. Bagchi has organized AISRF 2015 held at Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) 25 – 27th November, 2015. This is a three day symposium involving several eminent scientists from Australia and India including Bharat Ratna Prof. CNR Rao.

 Co-Convener of the International Conference on Nano Science and Technology (ICONSAT 2014): Dr. Bagchi has Co-organized ICONSAT-2014 held at Panjab University, Chandigarh from 3rd – 5th March, 2014. This is one of the biggest international meeting on nanoscience and technology. This is a three day symposium working in the diverse area of nanoscience, involving more than 1400 participants and 60 internationally known speakers.
